GHS Federal Credit Union Awards $2,000 College Scholarship to Chenango Valley High School Senior

Binghamton, NY – GHS Federal Credit Union awarded member and Chenango Valley High School senior, Nadia Wojcik, a $2,000 college scholarship. President and CEO, Shawn Wolbert, presented the scholarship on June 5th, 2023 during a ceremony hosted at Chenango Valley High School for the 2023 graduating students.

This is the second year GHS has offered our scholarship program to local students. The dollars are awarded to GHS members that are graduating seniors planning to attend a 2- or 4-year accredited educational institution in the upcoming academic year. Applications are reviewed and students are selected based on academic excellence, extracurriculars, and community involvement. Nadia was selected by the GHS board of directors for excelling in all categories.

Our mission at GHS is to provide financial assistance to our community beyond the products we offer. Creating a strong foundation of financial wellness and education within the community has become a top priority set forth by our board and staff, and offering opportunities such as the scholarship program enables us make a positive impact on the futures of our local youth. We believe in equal opportunities for our members to thrive and are taking action to assist members in financial stability and avoiding debt in turbulent times. For young adults building on the foundations of their financial situations, debt – especially student loan debt – can put them at disadvantage as they work toward independence. Scholarship opportunities are an important way in which we can assist our members and encourage financial health.
